چکیده

Black Carbon (BC) aerosols are not only substantial climate-forcing drivers but also impact human health. The spatial distribution of BC depends on the combination anthropogenic activities and meteorological conditions. In this study, we used India Meteorological Department (IMD) Observational Network datasets to assess diurnal, seasonal, long-term trends for period, 2016–2021. majority IMD’s monitoring stations show an overall declining trend in mass concentration during study period India. Maximum concentrations observed post-monsoon winter seasons due stubble-burning activity lower values Atmospheric Boundary Layer Height (ABLH). Minimum at all monsoon season wet scavenging by rain. There is a clear decrease from months increase months. Regional emissions crop residue burning post-harvesting main contributing factor extremely high levels concentration. Low wind speed shallow mixed layer were found be reasons aerosol season. increasing Biomass Burning (BB) most except Thiruvananthapuram, where prominent decreasing noticed. present local parameters such as wind, temperature, rainfall investigated. results negative correlation with rainfall, relative humidity, speed, temperature ABL height. Both long-range transport each site responsible significant changes

Molecular Characterization of Brown Carbon in Biomass Burning Aerosol Particles.

Emissions from biomass burning are a significant source of brown carbon (BrC) in the atmosphere. In this study, we investigate the molecular composition of freshly emitted biomass burning organic aerosol (BBOA) samples collected during test burns of sawgrass, peat, ponderosa pine, and black spruce. We demonstrate that both the BrC absorption and the chemical composition of light-absorbing compo...

Indoor particulate concentration during biomass burning in central India

Indoor air particulate (PM) exposure is several folds more dangerous than  outdoor air  owing to burning of different materials. Burning biomass emits toxic fumes that are found to be associated with  numerous health problems  such as respiratory diseases, etc. In our study area,  approximately 80% of the population of Chhattisgarh state, central India use biomass  such as wood, and cow dung as...
